An agile website for a nimble company
Sketch Insight is a market research company offering data gathering, analysis, and consultancy services.
Using a network model, Sketch is able to flex its size and capabilities by bringing in outside experts where necessary.
“Umbreen and the team really looked after me. From spotting that my website was down to providing guidance on brand positioning. Lots of friendly and flexible expertise. I would really recommend their services.“
Process: Words first, Website later
Given the need to distil a number of complex issues into an easy-to-follow format, Sanzen suggested that the client worked with a copywriter first to ‘nail down’ the messaging.
The advantages of working with a copywriter were threefold:
- Clarify the client’s thoughts
- Reduce web design time
- Improve the website’s readability
Sanzen introduced Matt Wright (Nobleword) to the client, having worked successfully with this individual on past projects.
Once the online audit had been completed, Matt became the primary point of contact with the client; only once the client was satisfied did the project proceed to the web building stage.
Sanzen Scope
- As a small but scalable company, Sketch’s founder — Julian Watson — wanted to the website to ‘punch above its weight’, attracting larger clients.
- From a build point of view following an online audit, the old website needed to be taken down and rebuilt on a stable platform with updated security protocols.
- From a copy point of view, the website needed to be clear about how a relatively small company could handle relatively large projects.
- Overall, the whole look and content of the website needed to be updated so it could stand comparison against mid-size competitors.

Results: A seamless build
Copywriting
- Create visual mind maps: capture & organise the client’s objectives & data into easy-to-reference images.
- Devise key messages: the mind maps were edited and condensed into key messages to be used throughout the website.
- Suggest an appropriate website structure: the key messages were used to inform the website build (rather than vice versa, as is often the case, when the build comes first.)
- Undertake multiple drafts: the website copy was redrafted to the client’s satisfaction before being passed onto the web designer.
- Proofread and link checks: once up on the development site, the website was thoroughly checked for syntax and transposition errors.
Web Design & Development
- A comprehensive website audit was carried out which identified issues with recommendations.
- Optimise site security: following the online audit, the whole site needed to be rebuilt to modern standards.
- Integrate the new design: this needed to work alongside the client’s exisitng logo and colour scheme.
- Visually engaging: to stand comparison with its competitors, the site needed to appear both authoritative and innovative.
- Thoroughly tested: the site was built on a development server to enable it to be fully tested before being made live.
- Futureproofed design: using a WordPress platform with bespoke design and optimised for mobile and tablet usage, the site can now grow with the business.
